Written by a patient at St Mary's Hospital
15th October 2020

I was admitted to St Mary's after being knocked down on a pedestrian crossing by a cyclist. I suffered dislocation and fracture of my ankle. I received wonderful care in the A&E of St Mary's to try and reduce the dislocation, following which I was admitted and external fixation was performed Two and a half weeks later a fibula nail was inserted. I suffered very little pain and was kept informed on ward rounds of the progress being made. Now three and a half months after my accident, I am walking relatively normally with normal footwear. I consider I was extremely fortunate to receive care under Mr Al-Obaidi, who I believe specialises in ankle/foot surgery.
